The Working with Young Children Early Childhood Education Professional Development Program
In Association With the University of Wisconsin-Stout
Designed to enhance your knowledge and give you
practical ways to guide children through a variety of learning experiences,
this online professional development course is a perfect way to learn how to
be a better early childhood educator.
Successful students will earn two University of
Wisconsin-Stout Continuing Education Units (CEUs)* for each of the five course
sections or a total of 10 CEUs for the entire course. The course also provides
educational opportunities that will help you meet Child Development Association
(CDA) learning objectives.
There are five sections to the course and each
section contains from 1 to 11 chapters. At the end of each chapter, an online
test is required. To successfully complete each section, you must receive a
combined total of 85% accuracy for all chapters. Upon successful completion
of all chapters in each section, the University of Wisconsin-Stout will send
your CEUs. If you complete all five sections within a one-year period, you will
also receive an "Early Childhood Educational Professional Development Certificate."
The course's five sections are:

- Creating a Safe and Healthy Environment
- Guiding Children
- Learning Experiences for Children
- Other People You Will Meet
The Working With Young Children textbook accompanies
this online course and must be purchased in order to participate. This textbook
applies child development principles to the care of children in group settings
and provides instruction for setting up and equipping an age appropriate environment.
