How GRO Works

Track child progress in all domain areas and individualize instruction through ongoing observation. HRL-GRO clearly outlines how one stage leads to the next. The following four steps simplify how HRL-GRO works.

  1. ObserveChoose one domain to emphasize that day and focus on what children can do and accomplish. Refer to the ideas in the manual for a variety of observation strategies.
  2. Record Note the highest level of development you observe based on our easy-to-use codes.
  3. Set Goals Based on your observations, you can plot and see each child's strengths and areas for growth.
  4. PlanKnowing the areas of development and skills that are developed and are not yet developed helps to individualize lesson planning. Base planning on what children can do and are on the verge of developing, matching development and experiences. Connecting your observations to planning with purpose is the basis of intentional teaching.
